The integration of all critical component manufacturing processes at the US facility provides the control necessary to ensure product consistency and reliability. The technology presently available at Isomet for the fabrication of a wide variety of devices encompasses the following:

1. Growth of single crystal birefringent materials such as Lead Molybdate (PbMoO₄), Tellurium Dioxide (TeO₂), and Lithium Niobate (LiNbO₃). X-ray orientation, slicing, grinding and polishing of these materials. Fabrication of transducers (usually LiNbO₃) to provide efficient conversion of electrical to sonic energy.Vacuum bonding of transducers to the acousto-optic materials.Vacuum electrode deposition. Final device assembly, including impedance matching to RF drive circuitry.
2. Design and fabrication of suitable electronics required to drive these devices.

The acousto-optic method of controlling the intensity (AO modulation) or the position (AO deflection) of a laser beam is now well established in the industry. These solid-state components provide the high speed capability, proven long term reliability and cost effectiveness needed by laser-based systems manufacturers. The principal high volume markets for our components include non-impact printers, laser-based image digitization systems for the graphic arts industry, semiconductor wafer inspection, and laser phototypesetter systems for the publishing industry.
